We welcome a new member to the TLC team with the appointment of Dale Stapelberg.
Dale has joined us as a full-time bookkeeper as the business continues to grow.
She describes herself as “a dedicated professional who is diligent, conscientious and detail-focused”. But we know she brings much more than that to the business.
Background
Originally from South Africa, Dale moved across to the UK a year ago, right in the middle of a global pandemic.
She has experience across a breadth of industries, having spent extensive stints in both the hospitality, IT and construction sectors.
However she wisely spent some time adapting and aligning her skills to her new home country.
As well as temping at a social housing organisation, she has been keeping her skills and knowledge up to date across HR, payroll and accounting software.
“The transition to living in Scotland has been easier than I thought,” said Dale.
“There have been no new languages to learn, and Aberdonians have been kind so far in slowing down their Doric.
“It’s been good for the brain, getting my head around how things work.
“There are different rules and regulations – as well as the little things in everyday life. For example, we don’t have any sort of MOT system in South Africa.
“And I definitely needed to work out central heating and how boilers work!”
Skills
Dale’s career started in Pitman secretarial work and IBI (American) bookkeeping. She worked her way up in administration and bookkeeping in smaller companies in South Africa.
She then spent three years working at a multinational IT company headquartered in Johannesburg. There, she occupied a variety of roles from a senior bookkeeper, accounts assistant, accountant to financial manager.
From there, she moved to spend 16 years at City Lodge Hotel Group. With five distinct brands covering a range of accommodation choices from one star to four star, they have dozens of hotels across South Africa, extending into Kenya, Botswana and Tanzania.
Dale acquired a range of experiences from accountant and training consultant across to admin controller, where she handled the finances for 21 hotels.
TLC team
Having started at TLC in September on a part-time basis, she swiftly moved into a full-time role.
Dale is quickly getting to know the growing roster of TLC clients as she eases into her role.
“It’s been great finding out about our clients and what each of their businesses do and how we support them.
“It’s a very personal service that we offer with amazing attention to detail. And it’s a lovely working environment.
“I’m really looking forward to growing with Tracy and growing the business at TLC Accounts.”
Our founder Tracy Cromar said: “I’m thrilled to welcome Dale to the team.
“She has hit the ground running and it’s been an instant connection as we share so many of the TLC values.
“A proactive problem-solver, I’m looking forward to working with Dale as we continue towards our goal of figuring out those efficiencies for our clients.”
